Course Objectives

After completing this course, the learner will rate 4 out of 5 on the Likert Scale for their ability to:

  1. Incorporate pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic principles of Schedule II medications to safely prescribe medications in the part of care for patients experiencing pain.
  2. Demonstrate an understanding of the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics related to Schedule II controlled substances in relationship to women’s health and neonatal care. 
  3. Describe factors when prescribing opioids, their indications, and their effects.
  4. Analyze the indications of usage for tirzepatide in diabetes and weight loss management.   
  5. Discuss the long-term use of semaglutide injectables specific to the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
  6. Understand a nurse’s role in caring for patients receiving medication-assisted treatment.
  7. Explain what a DNR is and what it is not.
  8. Understand the risk assessment process for stroke in A-Fib.
