Informal caregivers of individuals with cancer can experience stress and other negative emotions from the many demands that caregiving takes on their physical, emotional, mental, and financial well-being. Cancer affects the entire family, not just the patient. Nurses need to recognize the signs of stress in caregivers and provide support and referrals to community resources.
