Course Overview

Caring for Pediatric Hospice Patients

Author: Marybeth Anderson Keppler
MSN, RN, OCN

Caring for patients with a terminal illness can often be challenging, but those difficulties are multiplied when it is a pediatric patient. Nurses often find that they also have informal patients, in addition to the child: parents, family, caregivers, community members, and so forth. On top of this, when the child qualifies for hospice care, this can make matters even more daunting for all parties involved. This course is designed to walk nurses through the basics of life-threatening childhood illnesses, information about hospice and palliative care, and what resources are available for those working with the pediatric hospice population.
