Course Overview
Author: Molina Allen, MSN, RN, CCRN
As a symptom of multiple severe, systemic, and clinical conditions, hypotension is frequently observed and treated in the intensive care unit (ICU). Hypotension has the potential to cause renal and cardiac injury and eventually lead to multi-organ failure unless promptly recognized and corrected. This intervention may drastically increase morbidity and mortality rates. With close monitoring and preventative action, hypotension may be managed to maintain hemodynamic stability.
