This course is designed to equip nurses in Nevada with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide unbiased care to patients who are HIV-positive through accurate knowledge of HIV pathophysiology, ethical considerations, and practical communication strategies. Nurses must foster a healthcare environment that respects the dignity and rights of all patients, with a particular focus on those living with HIV. Stigma, discrimination, and bias have a devastating impact on an individual’s well-being and outcome.

Accreditation Statement

In this course, we will discuss updates to the nurse’s role in HIV care in Nevada. It will take the average learner 120 minutes to complete and awards contact hours of continuing education.
