As life expectancy rates continue to improve and the world population ages as a whole, the risks associated with elder abuse continue to increase as well. Nurses must be educated on all aspects of elder care, including care of the vulnerable elder person. As healthcare professionals, we have the responsibility, knowledge and necessary skills to advocate for such persons in the prevention and treatment of suspected elder abuse. This course will discuss how nurses can practice their role of Nurse Advocate to identify, report, and protect individuals experiencing elder abuse.
