This course is designed to provide the nursing professional with a better understanding of the importance of the prevention and early detection of skin cancer. In this course, a thorough definition of skin cancer will be provided, and the various types of skin cancer will be defined with similarities and differences briefly highlighted. A basic overview of epidemiology and pathophysiology will be discussed, followed by an overview of risk factors and necessary assessments to best prevent skin cancer.

Signs and symptoms noted by the individual and the medical team will be reviewed followed by tips for prevention. Treatments will be defined and delineated based on type, indication, and expected outcomes.
