Suicide is a leading cause of death globally. With over 48,000 deaths in the United States alone, suicide is considered a major mental health emergency and needs to be addressed in a timely manner. Healthcare providers have a duty to thoroughly assess each patient they interact with to identify those in need and ensure patients receive the right treatment.
