  1. Understand the legal protections against discrimination for patients who are HIV-positive in Nevada and the United States. 
  2. Identify ways that people of minority groups experience healthcare differently than other patients.  
  3. Understand how syndromic surveillance is used in identifying potential acts of bioterrorism, the reporting procedures and the use of the Health Alert Network.
  4. Recognize how to identify and analyze quality improvement opportunities.
  5. Understand ways to prevent workplace violence towards nurses.
  6. Recognize the importance of the many telemetry devices used and identify how these devices impact patient care. 
  7. Identify the many risk factors for Heart Failure and learn about newer medications and treatments 
  8. Identify potential cases of hypertension and screen individuals at risk, fostering interventions and mitigating adverse outcomes through prompt diagnosis. 
  9. Understand the pathophysiology of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract and list examples of underlying conditions that cause gastrointestinal bleeding. 
  10. Discuss signs and symptoms of constipation. 
  11. Identify ways nurses can help patients with spinal cord injuries start a bowel and bladder regimen. 
  12. Identify the six stages of pressure injuries based on National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel guidelines. 
  13. List types of wounds that negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) may be used to treat. 
  14. Identify nutrient deficiencies that will impact wound healing.
