1. What are the continuing education requirements for the 2024 Connecticut nursing license renewal?Â
LPNs and RNs are required to complete two contact hours on screening for PTSD, risk of suicide, depression and grief, in addition to suicide prevention training every six years.Â
Nursing CE Central provides LPN license renewal CE and RN license renewal CE. Â
APRNs are required to complete 50 contact hours of continuing education every two years. Â
Five of the 50 hours must be on pharmacotherapeutics.
One of the 50 hours must be on each of the following topics:Â Â
- One hour on diseases, including but not limited to: acquired immune deficiency syndrome and human immunodeficiency virus.Â
- One hour on risk management.Â
- One hour on sexual assault.Â
- One hour on domestic violence.Â
- One hour on cultural competency.Â
- One hour on substance abuse, including but not limited to: prescribing controlled substances and pain management.Â
Two of the 50 hours must be on mental health conditions common to veterans and family members of veterans. This requirement must be completed no less than once every six years and includes:Â
- Determining whether a patient is a veteran or family member of a veteran,Â
- Screening for post-traumatic stress disorder, risk of suicide, depression and grief, andÂ
- Suicide prevention training.Â
Two of the 50 contact hours must be on diagnosing and treating cognitive or mental health conditions, including but not limited to:Â
- Alzheimer’s disease,Â
- Dementia,Â
- Delirium,Â
- Related cognitive impairments, and Â
- Geriatric depression. Â
 This is required once every six years. Â
