What Is It?
The AHNA is a national non-profit membership association for nurses and other healthcare professionals who have an interest in holistic health practices.
With over 5,000 members, this organization is dedicated to illuminating holistic practices in healthcare through community-based programs, advocacy, research, and education.
The vision of the AHNA is a world where every nurse practices holistic care in some shape or fashion.
What is a Holistic Nurse?
The AHNA defines a holistic nurse as,
“a legally licensed nurse who use nursing knowledge, theories, expertise and intuition to recognize and care for the totality of the human being within the scope and standards of their state and the Holistic Nursing specialty.”
Many holistic nurses specialize in one or more complementary, alternative, or integrative healing modalities and maintain qualifications to practice these modalities in their state in conjunction with practicing holistic nursing.
